And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Inspiration

We wanted to touch on the issue of hope and inspiration for our community of single Christians. Waiting for the right person in your life can be a trying experience. When you find that perfect match, falling in love is one of the greatest of human experiences. And while it’s always a better choice to wait for the right person as a spouse, we recognize that being single can be difficult. It is at times like these that our faith in God is so important.

Trust that God has a plan for you and your future family. Believe in your heart that things will work out. Know that when you live a life of faith and love, you create the conditions in your life to find your future Christian partner. The following are a few Bible passages, both Old Testament and New Testament, to encourage you along the way.

1. Psalm 37:4-7 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass … Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.

Focus on your connection to God and your faith. The energy and love that you bring to your relationship with God and the people in your life will create your future destiny. Your belief will be rewarded many times over. When we apply this to our lives as single Christians, we take comfort in our faith and the plan that God has for us.

There is an old Eastern saying that “when the student is ready, the teacher appears.” And so it is with our personal commitment to God and our faith. Create today the love and happiness in your life with God as the centerpiece—this will bring about the conditions to meet the right person tomorrow.

2. Proverb 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

Sometimes the future is uncertain to us. We are not sure how it is all going to come together in our lives. We can’t seem to find the right person. We are trying hard but just can’t seem to see any results. This is the time for redoubling our faith. Trust that God has a plan for us that is wonderful. Know that it is through our faith, and not our conscious and logical processes, that God creates our path.

3. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you says the LORD. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.

Jeremiah writes this letter to those carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. Hoping to return but uncertain of their future fate, we receive this message from the Lord that asks us to keep our faith. Know that with God in your heart, anything is possible. Wonderful, mysterious, and uncanny events will happen in your life when you open yourself up to the possibility of the unwavering love of God.

4. Matthew 6:33-34 Seek first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Stay positive and upbeat about the current situation in your life. Worrying and fretting about our personal lives and a potential future spouse is counterproductive. The more stressed you are, the worse you will feel. With an enthusiasm for your every day existence and the comfort that your faith brings you, you are readying yourself to meet the right person. Stick with it and don’t worry.

5. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through CHRIST Who gives me strength.

Part of the message from Philippians 4 instructs us to be content with our lives. Having a healthy sense of gratitude can go a long way towards feeling inspired. It is easy to lose track of how blessed we are. Everyone has obstacles—but think about your family, your friends, and all the amazing things in our lives. When we give thanks to God for the current blessings in our lives, we put ourselves in the best frame of mind. You are alive and well! As Kenny Chesney writes:

So damn easy to say that life’s so hard
Everybody’s got their share of battle scars
As for me I’d like to thank my lucky stars that I’m alive and well

6. Philippians 4:19: And my GOD will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in CHRIST JESUS

With Jesus in your heart, nothing is impossible. Your faith, your beliefs, your actions: these items create for you the destiny that God has planned. Trust that your needs will be met. Your future husband or wife is out there. God has created a wonderful outcome for you and your future family. Let faith be your guide and stay inspired in your search as a committed Christian single.
